Camps and outdoor experiences are an important and enjoyable part of school life. Far away from the walls of the daily classroom routine, teachers and students have the opportunity to engage in life changing experiences to develop new skills. OutBeyond provides learning opportunities beyond the walls of classroom but never at the expense of safety.
At OutBeyond, safety is the most important aspect of our programs. Safety is not a checklist, safety is a culture, and through stringent training of our staff, strict policies around planning and risk management, and consultation with industry experts our programs have been designed with safety at the forefront of everything that we do.
Outdoor camp programs in general are by their very nature risky activities, in particular those involving adventure activities, entail a very high degree of risk, however it is through involvement in these inherently risky activities that young people learn valuable life lessons.
Whilst we cannot eliminate risk, the goal is to strike a balance between acceptable risks, those with clear educational benefits which may be managed or controlled through risk management, and unacceptable risks, which should wherever possible be eliminated.
All of our activities are conducted in a manner that ensures that activity instructors, school staff, and program participants are exposed to the most minimum risk possible.
Students & teachers participating in an OutBeyond program receive hands-on training from OutBeyond staff at your school. Training can range from a few hours to a few days and is tailored and relevant to the program experiences, duration and location.
Coupled with learning activities, OutBeyond training sessions will give all stakeholders an understanding of risk management procedures, the varying natural or urban environments that they will be travelling through and what activities will be undertaken as a part of the itinerary.
OutBeyond tailors specific safety systems and weather contingency procedures for individual programs and destinations.
OutBeyond has developed a culture of safety through adherence to strict policies and procedures, encouraging open discussion on safety and actively engaging with OutBeyond program stakeholders and participants.
We encourage that school staff rely on administrative support from our team during the planning stages and engagement of school council or school leadership in relation to risk management pertaining to the program.
At OutBeyond safety is not a checklist' it's our culture. Our leaders are selected and trained to facilitate all elements of our programs with an emphasis on safety, risk assessment and group management.
Every program OutBeyond runs is lead by an OutBeyond leader who is an Australian Qualified Teacher or Outdoor Educator. Our leaders are experienced in practising Outdoor Education, First Aid, Surf Life Saving, international travel and youth development.
Our leadership group has delivered outdoor activities and programs to more than 25,000 students worldwide.
Every location is unique and when required OutBeyond leaders and program coordinators will utilise communications systems such as satellite phones, GPS tracking devices, EPIRBs, mobile phones, and radio systems to ensure we can monitor and effectively communicate with OutBeyond programs in real time.
Every program includes an OutBeyond Program Coordinator offering 24 hour standby cover and support, with dedicated 4WD vehicles ready to respond to any situation.

We are looking for Program Coordinators that possess the qualities and characteristics that will help educate young people in outdoor and travel based environments. This position requires passion, enthusiasm, energy and a dedication to working with young people and the environment. The Program Coordinator is essentially responsible for managing the day to day operations of our programs by providing total support to the student groups in the field. This role is suited to teachers, camp leaders, outdoor educators, and tour guides who have some management and logistics experience. The position requires applicants to have an enthusiastic attitude, be energetic, and demonstrate significant amounts of charisma and passion when it comes to working with young people. The position requires some flexibility with working hours and experience in education and working with children. You will be responsible for managing the expectations of the student groups, their respective accompanying teachers, and most importantly the program facilitators so that they can carry out their job. You will need to assist with creating program itineraries including the program curriculum, have an in depth understanding of our program locations and ensure the outstanding delivery of customer experience and management of field staff.
We are looking for Program Facilitators that possess the qualities and characteristics that will help educate young people in outdoor and travel based environments. This position requires passion, enthusiasm, energy and a dedication to working with young people and the environment. The position requires flexibility with working hours, patience and some experience in management, physical/outdoor education, tourism, education, and/or adventure activities in the outdoors. You will be responsible for leading and managing a group of students and their accompanying teachers nationally and internationally. You will need to understand the program itinerary including the program content, geographics and delivery methods in order to show expertise in your leadership delivery.
